Read Comics All Day

Along the lines of Open That Bottle Night, I would like to propose a new "holiday": Read Comics All Day...Day. I'm kind of serious about this. Permission to read comics all day. Get some beers and some pizzas, etc., put on some records... Like, at least 8+ hours of solid reading.

Some Saturday in the Fall?
Comments are open.

SLG would like to get behind this and offer up our Gallery/warehouse space as a place people can come to read comics all day (well, not all day, but maybe like noon till 10 PM).

We can make reading copies of all of our books available and if other publishers would like to send books for people to read we would be happy to make them available.

That OCt 3 date might cause some issues, but if we can get some people together, maybe other publishers, stores or people with library contacts, this could be cool.

Ummm... October 3 is already 24 Hour Comics Day this year, which is likely to sap both participants and attention.

However people want to go about observing the day doesn't matter to me. This isn't my thing. If someone wants to run with it and start promoting it that would be cool, because I'm not going to do much.

Are we settled, then, on the first Saturday in Rocktober? OK try not to forget.

I like the idea of coming up with holidays as excuses to do things you want to do already but just never get around to. Like have a feast...maybe this should be called "Feast of Comics"

But there has to be quiet, and people sitting around reading, not partying. Maybe 8 hours of reading, then partying.

Whoops crossed comments.
Maybe first Sat. in Nov? Jan.?
This is already becoming
too much work.

Good idear. I say make it October 3rd. Those who want to read can read. Those who want to draw, draw. It's a great way to promote both.

If it's the *second* Sat on Oct, there should be plenty of brand-spankin'-new 24 hour comics to be read!

SUCH a good idea. The 8hrs of reading, then 8hrs partying version specifically. Just think, hangin out and drinkin and talkin about what comics you read all night?

I totally want to do this, like, every third day for the rest of my life, but my better half won't allow it. I'll compromise by spending Oct. 3 weeping all day.

So October 3, and henceforward the first Saturday in October, unless the 24 Hour people strongly object, will also be Read Comics All Day Day AKA Feast of Comics.

This started as a good idea, then you added pizza and beer and it became a GREAT one! Someone else plz inform my GF that I will be busy all day.

I would like to do this, however the October 3 date is just not going to work. I'm already committed to 24 Hour Comics Day.
I like the idea of doing it the weekend after, Saturday October 10.
